National Sandwich Month: It’s A Great Time To Try

By Aly Walansky

August is a monthlong celebration of the sandwich, and a great opportunity to celebrate its many forms and flavors, as well as cultural impact.

Sandwiches are such a great option because they truly can fulfill any craving, cuisine type, or budget. From fancy to casual, vegetarian to stuffed with meat, and spicy or sweet, there’s so many ways to build a sandwich and it’ll be sure to fulfill what you are craving when your hunger demands that and only that.

But aside from our go-to sandwich classics, there’s some incredible new sandwich variations nationwide waiting to be experienced, and National Sandwich Month may be the most perfect time to go ahead and give one a taste.

At Motek, which has locations in South Florida, and New York City, crispy breaded chicken schnitzel on soft challah bread with cabbage slaw, pickles, tomato, lettuce, sumac onion and harissa aioli for a bold Mediterranean take on a comfort food classic.

“Every schnitzel is made à la minute, so it comes out perfectly crispy every time. Our homemade harissa aioli brings the kick, the pickles and sumac onion cut the richness, and the roasted tomato and cabbage slaw keep everything bright. Then the soft challah brings it all together, and for anyone who wants extra heat, there’s a shifka pepper on the side. One bite and you’re obsessed. I’d eat one every day if I could get away with it,” said Krizia Calero, Chief of Staff at Happy Corner Hospitality.
